Locals or people living in germany able to shed some light on this?

I was in the south of Germany for a week on holiday last month and had a fantastic time. The only thing that’s been bugging me is that there were a few disagreements between me and my friend. For context I’ve living in Ireland for 4 years and he has been living in germany for about 5 years now. I like photography so whenever I point my camera at a castle or some popular landmark, people inevitably end up in the frame. My mind can’t comprehend how gyms don’t have air conditioning in Germany.

I know that every post looks like that, but it’s insane and seems to faze nobody. It’s my first summer here and I’ve trusted this country with most things until now- stuff usually works okay here, most people are competent, surely there’s gonna be air conditioning in the gyms. NO. And it’s not even about the few weeks when it’s 30 or 30+ degrees, working out at 22-25 degrees is also shit, so basically most of the summer. In general, even going to the gym by itself is such a pain in the ass with
